2nd generation Cuda was the best. Lightweight fastback had a bolt-in swap for a 426 or 440? Amazing.
1st gen lacked the B-block engines, 3rd gen got too heavy. 2nd Gen is where it's at, in my opinion. A much closer poll would be between the 1st gen 273 and the Abarth.
The Abarth is rare and cool and all, but at the end of the day, I'd much rather have a ubiquitous, reliable, big and powerful fastback than a super-obscure Italian one.

If you wanted to be slow and stuff, at least the good looking Abarth would be the decent choice.
No gas hogs, please!

You gotta give that Abarth some credit, it is a 1700 lb rear engined race car with a bored and stroked abarth motor. I'm sure it'd be just as fun to own as a 'cuda.
And yeah, those cudas are the coolest. Even with the smaller 340 or 383 big block they're flippin fast. And that fastback styling is right up there with the '67/'68 mustang in terms of looks, they're that cool.

I love Cudas, but I'd take the Abarth. I've never seen one in person, the uniqueness is worth it. On the other hand, it will be a pain finding parts for it...

I'd be too afraid of something breaking, knowing how rare it is. I'd never get to drive it properly or really enjoy it. If the Barracuda's engine blows, you can just get parts out of a used motorhome.

Abarth on just the weird factor. You'd turn more heads and meet some interesting folks with some cool relatable stories.

Hmmm. Maybe you should think these questions through more thoroughly. What kinda 'Murican would not want an early Cuda? :)

Well first off I'm not American (though I do act more American than most actual Americans). Second, what kind of automobile aficionado limits themselves to a single kind of car, or a single make? I give the Cuda props for speed, style, commonalty, the Abarth for drivability, and the fact it's a race car with a rear engine.

Canada. And you should know that I secretly cheer for the V8 American cars when I make these polls. Nothing says "freedom" as much as a blue collar, average joe fulfilling his dream of having a fast car, and I do love freedom as much as I do cars.
